Welcome to our climate site for suppliers
At Salling Group, we are aware that the production of the goods we sell in our stores results in a significant release of CO2e into the atmosphere. Therefore, we wish to take responsibility and contribute to a reduction of these CO2e emissions in collaboration with our suppliers.
At Salling Group, we have committed to net-zero CO2e emissions in our value chain by the end of 2050, and we are proud of our climate targets that were approved by the internationally recognized 'Science Based Targets initiative' (SBTi) in 2023. We know that 95% of our CO2e emissions come from our scope 3, which underlines the importance of collaborating across value chains to reduce emissions.
In this context, we are looking forward to working with our suppliers to set individual climate targets and to report progress annually.
Salling Group's climate ambition
At Salling Group, we have ambitious climate goals. We invest heavily in conversion to renewable energy sources and work with sustainability in the entire value chain of the goods we buy and sell.
We support the UN's Paris agreement and ambition to keep man-made temperature rises to no more than 1.5 degrees. And we are proud that the objectives we have set to achieve the goal have been validated by the 'Science Based Targets initiative'.
Short term goals
- We commit to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by the end of 2030.
- We commit to reduce scope 3 emissions from the use of sold products by 42% by the end of 2030.
- We undertake that 75% of our suppliers, measured in terms of emissions, must have set scientifically based targets by the end of 2027.
Long-term goals
- We commit to net-zero CO2e emissions across the value chain by the end of 2050.
What does this mean for you as a supplier?
We set the same climate requirements for our suppliers as we set for ourselves, because otherwise we will never reach our goals either as a company, industry or society. We therefore ask selected suppliers to set climate targets, calculate emissions and report targets as well as the emissions linked to our trade.
